There’s some exciting publishing news to share with you this month as the Cardiff Arcades have been featured rather wonderfully in the beautiful Mollie Makes magazine.

For anybody unaware, Mollie Makes is a new(ish) vintage and craft magazine aimed at young women. I’m pleased to say that my feature (which I wrote the words for and supplied the photographs) spreads over a whopping five pages and fetaures all of the gorgeous crafting and vintage hotspots housed under the majestic arches.

I’ve been planning this feature for almost a year now, with several setbacks along the way. It is of course extremely sad that a few of the shops originally intended for this piece have since closed down in that intervening time, notably Folk Farm, Looby Loo’s and most recently, A Vintage Affair.

It seems that A Vintage Affair will be taken over by a new owner soon, but a vintage owner none-the-less, so that’s good news. It’s also good that a new shop, Vintage Zizou, has opened in that time to fulfil some of the vintage-shaped hole in Cardiff’s shopping scene.

Other positive news is the shops that are included in the piece. Along with Vintage Zizou, we have Hobo’s, Pen and Paper, Joie de Vivre, Claire Grove Buttons, Troutmark Books – all brilliant in their own right.
